Partnerships & Other Initiatives

The OCCHA Board of Directors is committed to the continuous quality improvement of both OCCHA and the accreditation process.The following is a list of OCCHA’s current partnerships and/or continuous quality initiatives:

Skills Enhancement for Health Surveillance:

This program is an Internet-based training initiative for health professionals in local public health departments and regional health authorities across Canada to increase their skills in epidemiology, surveillance and information management. The OCCHA Board of Directors, in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating opportunies to promote this program as good practice and to identify potential linkages with the accreditation standards and other continuous quality improvement inititatives.

Ontario Public Health Benchmarking Partnership (OPHBP): 

A collaborative initiative involving the Public Health Research, Education and Development (PHRED) Programs, the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) and the Ontario Council on Community Health Accreditation (OCCHA).

The goal of the partnership is to promote, support and sustain benchmarking in Ontario public health units. For more information on the Partnership or the status of benchmarking for Ontario Public Health please visit the benchmarking web site at www.benchmarking-publichealth.on.ca.

Ontario Accreditation Managers Forum (OAMF): 

An informal Committee whose mission is to promote excellence in not-for-profit accreditation programs in Ontario, through information exchange. This Committee currently meets twice per year. Current membership includes:

  • Accreditation Ontario

  • Catholic Charities

  • Children’s Mental Health Ontario

  • Community Organizational Health

  • Family Services Ontario

  • Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies

  • Ontario Association of Credit Counseling Services

  • Ontario Council on Community Health Accreditation
