Committees

Committees of Council

There are currently three Standing Committees of the OCCHA Board of Directors:

  • Principles and Standards Committee

  • Marketing Committee

  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee

The OCCHA Board of Directors will organize ad hoc committees, as appropriate, to address specific issues.

Principles and Standards Committee

This Principles and Standards Committee shall be comprised of a minimum of five members appointed by the OCCHA Board of Directors, with powers to add. The chairman of the Committee will be elected by voting members and shall be a member of the Board.

Objectives:

  • To develop, regularly review and update the Accreditation Principles and Standards for approval by the Board;

  • To review and make recommendations regarding procedures for the accreditation process; to screen survey applications and make recommendations regarding whether to proceed;

  • To review the Surveyor's reports and make recommendations regarding the accreditation status of a health agency;

  • To consider appeals from health agencies regarding their accreditation status, and

  • To participate in the interpretation of Accreditation Principles and Standards.

Current Membership:

Catherine Bloskie, Allan Northan, Bonnie Jeffrey, Elaine Murkin, Penny Lavalley, Wayne Tucker, Tina Pilon.

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee shall consist of a minimum of three members appointed by the OCCHA Board, with powers to add. The chairman of the Committee will be elected by voting members and shall be a member of the Board.

Objectives:

  • To recommend policies relating to the public image of the organization;

  • To provide strategies for informing public health agencies of the function of the Council;

  • To promote recognition of OCCHA;

  • To review information provided by the Council;

  • To recommend plans or public relations programs for the Council including the use of media sources;

  • To ensure the development and distribution of the OCCHA newsletter and annual report, and

  • To develop and review a protocol for news releases regarding the accreditation status of a public health agency.

Penny Lavalley, Robert Thompson, Patricia Coderre, Kathy Braet, Heather Kemp.

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee

Purpose: 

To improve OCCHA’s ability to encourage and facilitate organizational excellence and ongoing quality of practice (i.e., CQI) in public health.

Objectives:

  • To develop a framework to encourage and support continuous quality improvement in public health.

  • To support the review and revision of accreditation standards to incorporate and/or expand the concepts of continuous quality improvement.

  • To provide leadership, direction and support to the Public Health CQI Advisory Group.

  • To facilitate information-sharing on CQI initiatives and the activities of the OCCHA CQI Committee.
